Mom (Nick's) Milestone Birthday!

Last night we went to Carraba's in Peachtree City and celebrated my mother-in-law's and her brother's milestone Birthdays!!! She turned 75 and he turned 70! Johnny and Gail's daughter, Beth, put the whole thing together and designed this incredible cake that was a timeline of their life! The left half represented Johnny's life, and the right side represented Rita's. On mom's half, it began with her birth and highlighted things like her faith, her basketball career, and her independence as she went off to college (notice the car with one passenger). Wedding rings and a little car with two people represented her getting married, and then a car with 4 people in it represented them having kids. It included a picture and some coins from Peru to represent her mission trips and a marathon sticker to show her running races. On top, there was a graham cracker beach with sea shells to represent their place at the beach. It was awesome to see some of mom's side of the family. It has been way too long! We used to see them once a year, but as our family grew, it got more difficult. It was great catching up with mom and dad, Lisa and Darren, and Kaylen! We finally got to meet her handsome boyfriend, Dennis. He's such a great guy!!! They both are in the restaurant business in Charlotte. She's a pastry chef and he's a cook. When I asked Lisa what she's been up to, it blew me away! She has run about 3 or 4 marathons. She's now training for a 50 mile race for her 50th Birthday! Part of the training includes running a half marathon and then a marathon. She fell down a flight of stairs the day before the 1/2 marathon and got up and ran it in the cold and rain the next day. The following day every ounce of her body ached and she could hardly breath! Darron took her to the doctor and it turned out she ran a 1/2 marathon with a broken tailbone and a broken rib. Who does that??? The girl is hardcore!!! It only took her body 2 weeks to heal. The Nicholson's are made of iron, lol! On the way home Ellie and Emma were talking about how much fun they had! I love it, they haven't seen most of mom's relatives since they were babies, but they are all just so warm and kind, that the girls just lapped up the love:)
