Finally finished the guest room!

Keith and Drew painted the walls a gold color that I chose. I loved it on the swatch, but was pretty nervous about it since it was such an intense color. However, I absolutely love the way it turned out. The iron piece hanging over the bed used to hang over my bed in the Master Bedroom. The twin beds are put together to make a king size bed. I had the beds and headboards in the attic. I got the bedding and wicker tray from T.J. Maxx and the curtains and bedside tables from Marshalls. The desk, bulletin board, black dressers, and blinds, I brought down from the boys' old room. I touched up the dressers with a coat of black paint that I had in the garage. I found the chalkboard at Hobby Lobby (50% off). I got the silver desk lamp, the wooden lamp with the black lamp shade, and the 2 wooden vases (on clearance) at Target. I filled the vases with some styrofoam and moss and wrapped them in burlap ribbon. The sticks with lights in the 2 vases were from Big Lots. The 2 lamps on either side of the bed with burlap shades were from Walmart. We are officially ready for guests!!!

Cathie Zinn brought 2 of her 6 children (Madison and Hannah) for a visit Saturday!

We don't get to see each other as often as we'd like, but we always seem to pick up right where we left off. We spent most of the afternoon at the pool. Debbie Clark was able to join us for a little while. (I met Debbie and Cathie about 23 years ago. Our boys were babies then and we all worked out at the same fitness center and went to church together.) After swimming, we came back to the house where the girls played lots of games and had a bite to eat. We finished off the evening with a golf cart ride and tumbling on the golf course.

Kat and her 2 sons, Judson and Jimmy came through town Thursday/Friday!!!

We had a great visit, as usual. Kat loves to bring surprises whenever she comes in town. She gave me and the girls each a beautiful bracelet! Kat and I have been friends since we were 18. I used to lifeguard at her pool!

Signed up Emma for gymnastics in the fall

Ellie will be playing middle school softball this fall, so I decided to sign up Emma for a sport. She chose gymnastics. Or maybe it chose her. She is so flexible! She does the most beautiful cartwheels and just taught herself a one handed cartwheel which is just as graceful as her 2 handed cartwheel. She's double jointed and can contort her little body in all kinds of ways. She's constantly upside down hanging off the couch, feet against the wall, flipping over the furniture... When we go for golf cart rides at night with Buster, We stop and let the girls get out and run around and tumble on the green. It's one of their favorite things to do! The girls will continue their riding lessons with Phil since it's only twice a month. They absolutely love riding!

Emma's room finally done!!!

Emma loves her new room. Drew hung the white fan for me today. That was the last finishing touch. We moved her fan from her old room up here and the fan that was in here to the downstairs guest room.

Pulling together the guest room...

Almost done with Emma's room... but not quite. Starting to pull together the guest room between summer travel and teaching swim lessons. It's a slow process, but having fun doing it. I'll post pics when both rooms are complete. It's my summer project! Drew helped paint the room. He also hung the blinds and changed out the fan all by himself!!! Just need to hang the curtains, create a vignette for the tall dresser, and get a flat screen for the long chest of drawers.

4th July weekend in Highland's with the Grimm's!

We stopped and ate lunch under a big tree, swam at the hotel pool, shopped in downtown Highlands, jumped and slid down rocks at Bust Your Butt Falls, rode horses along the river at the Dillard House Stables, watched a fireworks show, ate at delicious restaurants, and made wonderful memories with our dear friends, the Grimm's, on this 4th of July weekend.
