Time to brag...

Ellie's a junior this year and I'm feeling her independence. I mean, she's always been pretty independent, but once she started driving, it feels even more so. So proud of that independent girl! I never have to stay on top of her about anything. Her GPA is 3.9 this year... She's in a lot of AP classes and will dual enroll next year, so she will be taking college classes her senior year.

Emma is following in her steps... They are both such smart and sweet girls. That reminds me... when my sisters and I were young, every morning, when we would walk out the door for school,  mom would say, "Get Smart/Stay sweet!"

Dad came to visit for Ginger's Birthday weekend. All the big kids came over Friday night for dinner and a game night!

Emma cheered the last game of the season... The girls and boys teams both made it to playoffs!

Emma did a great job cheering! The whole gang came out to watch! It was an intense game held at the highshool between the 2 rivalry teams. It was so close! 34 to 34 with 14 seconds to go. In the last 3 seconds one of our guys got the ball and did a layup and won the game!!!

Happy Birthday sweet Ginger!!!

January 25, 1969. She would have turned 50 this year. Such a beautiful soul. Miss her soooooo much!

Spring Tennis season has begun!

Girl's went to see Percy Jackson musical with aunt Lisa and cousin Kalen!!!

The girls got to see the Percy Jackson Musical this weekend! Last year, when Lisa came to visit, the girls told her how much they loved the Percy Jackson book series. Lisa picked up on that right away and immediately purchased tickets to take the girls to the Musical. She's so very thoughtful...

The weekend of the musical just happened to be the weekend of my Birthday. It was perfect! We drove the girls to Charlotte and dropped them off with Lisa and Kalen at the theater. Then Keith and I got a hotel and enjoyed my Birthday weekend. We grabbed a late lunch at a quaint little irish pub, and then chilled at the hotel all evening. We were too lazy to go out to dinner, so ordered room service.

The girls had an absolute blast at the musical. They knew all the songs from the soundtrack and sang along throughout the whole musical. The girls said, this experience is up there with Disney and Universal as far as their adventures! Ellie said, it felt like a dream... It was so surreal. It was magical! I can't believe that something that I've obsessed over for so long was so close to me. I felt less alone because I was surrounded by the people that had the same obsession as me!

Here's proof that our beloved furry friends will be waiting for us in heaven...

Had to snag another funny post off of my Aunt Betty's Facebook. This cracked me up!!!

Ellie and Sirapat have been working on a project together... They took a break to eat dinner.

Siripat's parents own a Korean restaurant. It's a little daunting cooking a meal for someone whose parents own a restaurant, lol. We had chicken enchiladas and yellow rice. The next time they worked on the project, they worked on it at his house and then went to dinner at his parents' restaurant.

7 deer, oh dear!

They are so hard to capture on film because they camoflouge so perfectly into nature. You can usually only see them when they move. A family of seven deer have been camping out in our backyard. They eat and sleep back there. It's pretty amazing to watch. They will sit there for hours...

Shhhh, it's a surprise party for Stacy...

My tennis coach, Stacy Venker, is turning 55 at the end of January. When she turned 50, all the tennis players threw her a surprise party. And by all the tennis players, I mean June, Stephanie, and me, lol! But all the tennis players that she coaches came to the party and Stacy was overwhelmed by the love!

We made her this T-shirt with all the things she says. We call them "Stacyisms". We wanted to make a new shirt with all her new sayings for the party this year, but ran out of time, so we are making the same shirt in a different color and we're all wearing them!

This year, June, Ann, Lisa, and I are planning the party. We are all meeting at a restuarant, Dominick's. There are about 50 people attending, that says something about how amazing Stacey is and how her tennis program does not just teach skills like no other coach, but creates a tennis family! We are even having news paper coverage. She has become quite an icon in the Athens/Oconnee area tennis world!

Throwback Thursday... Found this picture of the Grimm's girls and ours.

A few summers ago, we met the Grimm's at a waterpark. The girls tubed down the lazy river while we sat in the shade in rockers and watched them as they floated by. Before heading home, we stopped for dinner and margarita's at a Mexican restuarant.

We lived in 2 different neighborhoods with the Grimm's; one in Marietta and then we moved here to Athens together. We went through our China adoptions together, as well as some major paradyme shifts as our church of 20 years collapsed. Eventually they moved to Florida after their parents died to take care of some family business. Now they are back in Georgia, but in Canton, so we don't get to see them as often as we'd like, but we'll be forever connected...

They also have 3 biological sons and 2 chinese daughter's. Their youngest son, Drew, and our youngest son, Drew, are both getting married this spring!

Just got my ARTL trophy. Me and my partner Akemi, competed in the 8.0 Athens Recreational Tennis League and won!

This is the trophy we got.

I've competed in ARTL 4 times and won 3 of them. The first one I competed in and lost was the first year I played tennis. I competed at the 6.0  and 7.0 levels for the first 3 times. (6.0 level competition in tournaments is you and your partner's combined rating, ie. 3.0 and 3.0) This year I competed in the 8.0 level. I also competed in a few tournaments and won 2 of them. The big trophy was from one of the tournaments I won, the other tournament didn't give us a trophy, just flowers and a towel. I keep the trophy's in a drawer anyway. It's kind of silly, but I have a box full of trophies from when I used to cheer and when the boys played all their sports and the girls trophies for music and sports. Now I can add tennis trophies to the box, lol.
