These are all the board members standing in front of the CASA House. This is my first year on the board, so I'm trying to soak up everything I can. I have fallen in love with the board and the whole staff who tirelessly fight for the best interest of children who are caught in the maze of the foster care system. Many of these children have been abused and neglected. I went through CASA training to see what our CASA volunteers actually do. They are amazing Heroes! CASA's are Court Appointed Special Advocates who fight for these children's right and ensure that their needs are met and that they are in a safe and loving environment until they are placed in a stable, loving, and permanent home.
Tuesday night, we had an event in the courtyard at the Theta House. The weather was perfect, it was a beautiful night! The staff and the Theta's held a Volunteer Appreciation dinner to thank all the volunteers for their work. We got to hear a lot of stories about the work the Casa's do on behalf of the children. It was very moving. They are Heroes to these children and making such a difference in their lives!

On Sunday, I'm meeting with a group of girls from an organization called "Strong Girls" to talk to them about Children First. They choose a non-profit every year to support. Hopefully, they will choose ours this year.
We also have our biggest event of the year coming up this summer, Over the Edge! Our goal is to raise 30,000.00 this year. Keith will be going "over the edge" for Children First! He will be scaling down the SPARC building in Athens. I am terrified of heights, so my hero is stepping in for me!
