Good News / Bad News

First the good news...

When we buy a family car, we save up the cash and then run it until it's on it's last leg... Well our 2006 Kia, is on it's very last leg. We try to always pay cash for a car so that we don't have a monthly payment. When we buy a car, instead of paying a monthly payment and interest, we pay cash and then set aside what we would for a monthly payment so we are ready to buy the next car when our current car dies. We checked out the consumer reports and narrowed it down between a few cars. Then this weekend we made a list and test drove the cars on our list. We decided the Hyundai Santa Fe was the car for us. It had enough room and was in our price range, plus is was safe, economical, and dependable. Oh, and we found a certified, pre-owned with low mileage, and loaded with everything you could want in a car... and it was in our price range! The girls loved it... it had leather seats and even the seats in the back heated and cooled and reclined so the girls could see out the sun and moon roof. The top was almost all glass. Or, I could push a button and it would close the top and they had shades they could pull up on their windows for sleeping on long trips. It was loaded! Maybe cars come like this today... I don't know, our last car was 2006. Anyway, we bought our dream car!

And now for the bad news...

I signed all the paperwork and paid cash for the car on Tuesday. The dealership was near Keith's work, so he went in Wednesday after work and signed the paperwork, traded in our old Kia, and picked up our new car! On his way home, and I mean 10 minutes from home, a car in front of him put on their right blinker to turn. Keith was going to ease around him, but then the guy decided to turn left. Keith then had the choice to hit the vehicle on the driver side, or go over the embankment into the ditch. He chose the latter and totaled our new car. Poor thing... he was so shaken up. Thankfully, the airbags saved his life! The car left the scene. Keith got a ticket. And we aren't sure the insurance will pay for the car. We have to wait 7-10 business days for the answer...

Things could be worse... My husband could be injured or dead! You can always replace metal, but my man is irreplaceable! So I guess I should say - Good News / Bad New / Good News!
