Ellie is in Columbus Ohio looking at apartments with James and his mom.
They have been in Ohio all week. They found a 3 bedroom apartment they love near Ohio State where James will start his master’s doctorate program in August.
The trip has been a huge success because not only did they secure an apartment , but today Ellie got an editing job with a production company. She has been sending out resumes and having lots of interviews, and even got some job offers, but they were mostly sales jobs that didn’t interest her
Then she remembered what one of her professors suggested she try googling production companies and emailing her resume. So she emailed 30 different film companies Thursday morning and heard back from 3. The head of Actuality Media in Columbus, Ohio. He sent her this:
He wanted to interview her Friday before she left Ohio. So Thursday night after signing a lease on their apartment, they went shopping to get her an outfit for her interview. She got the job! He was super impressed with her documentary of Japan and how she filmed it, edited it, her camera angles, how she captured the feel! He is giving her free reigns to edit his documentary for the film festival. He will pay her hourly and she can work from home. After that, if all goes well, he will hire her as the editor for his production company!
