Our 3.5 18+ business team went to State in Rome!

The "W" stands for a win! Shannon is my doubles partner. She loves the baseline and I love the net! So we play well together!

This is my team! We're a mixed bag of nuts for sure! A few ladies are missing from this picture. We make it to state just about every year, but have trouble getting past 3rd place. We're from a small town. The 2 Atlanta teams always win first and second place every year. They're in a league of their own. Alta rates differently than USTA. On Sunday we battled it out for 3rd place. We took lines 1 and 2, but our 2 singles lines lost, so it came down to our line 3. It was a nail biting match to watch. They fought hard, but lost in a 3rd set tie break... oh so close. We had a blast though!

This is one of the Atlanta teams that kicked everyone's butts! They loved me and Shannon and asked us to be on their A2 Alta team, lol. That's ranked way too high for us! Maybe some day:))) They were such a sweet and fun group of ladies!

Rome, Georgia is one of my favorite places to play tournaments. It's beautiful and you can walk to everything. They also built a new tennis facility that is awesome! They have a little strip downtown of shops, restaurants, and bars. There's also this park with a fountain that all the kids play in.

The guys played a tournament down there at the same time we did. We play mixed doubles with them. So we were rooting for each other. The guy beside me that bought our table a round of shots is Tom, Tyler's boss at Lane Creek golf club. I'm not a shot girl, so I toasted with water and stuck to my glass of wine:)))

After dinner, we did our usual trip to the thrift store. Ginger, one of the girls on our team, loves thrift stores. It's become a tradition for our team to go to the thrift store together whenever we go to a state tournament. Our captain, Sandy, had more than 1 shot at dinner, which is unusual because she is our level headed leader who keeps us in line. But it was her Birthday. She calls me Sweet Pea, and found a LOVELY top that she thought would look "bedazzling" on me. She said, "I must buy it for you." I said, "Oh no Sandy, that is so thoughtful, but it is way too expensive." It was $5.00, lol! She said, "Oh, but look Sweet Pea, it has an orange tag, so it's half off! What are the chances?" Then she bought it for me. Later that night the ladies kept texting me, double dog daring me, to wear it for my singles match the next day. I'm such a sucker!
