Emma and I worked on her Rube Goldberg project last night! She had to use 6 simple machines to turn off a light!

See if you can spot the 6 simple machines we used to turn off the light! (Hint: Screw, Pully, Wheel and Axel, Lever, Inclined Plane, Wedge)

Wish I could download the video to the blog, but it takes forever!

Emma drops the marble in the spiral piping that we wrapped around the arm of the boflex (screw).

The marble goes through the slanted tube (inclined plane)

Then hits the car (wheel and axel)

Which is on the wooden board with a fulcrum under it (lever)

Which tilts when the marble hits it, causing the car to roll down the ramp (inclined plane)

The car is attached to a string which is wrapped aroung a circle and then attached to the cord that turns the lamp off (pulley)

When the car rolls down the lamp, it pulls the lamp cord, turning off the lamp, and the car is stopped by the triangle (wedge).
