2nd Annual Children First Candlelight Vigil tonight...

We're trying to raise awareness for the need for CASA's (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for children in the foster care system. Tonight an adult that grew up in the foster care system shared her story.

I hear all the statistics and mentally, I'm like... "NO, that should not be!!!" Then I hear someone's personal story and it cuts me even deeper... you know the feeling... when you get stabbed in the heart, throat, stomach... and you have no choice but to take action!!!

As a board member of Children First, as well as foster parent to 11 children, adoptive parent to 2, and birth parent to 3... Advocating for children has been my lifelong passion. It is my calling...

I'm passionate about this particular cause because so many children in the foster care system bounce from house to house and have no stability in their lives. Their CASA's are their only source of stability. They advocate for their child (or sibling group) and follow them until they are placed in a stable and loving environment. Every child needs a CASA!!!
