Kid's surprised me when I got home from Savannah with Birthday balloons, a sign, and piƱata's full of tootsie rolls (my fav!)

The girls and 2 of their friends worked all night and morning blowing up all those balloons and making the sign and filling the pinata. Between my girls' weekend and my surprise homecoming, I'm feeling very loved!

Savannah girls' trip January 2020! My 55th B-day weekend!

Thirty two years ago Sam lived in Georgia for about 4 years... back when Tyler and Brock, our eldest children, were in diapers. We met at a bible study and our family's became very close and took vacations together and even moved across the street from each other. She moved back to Nebraska, but we've remained close friends despite the distance. We try to meet up every few years and vacation together. This year she wanted me to meet a few of her close friends, so they flew in from Nebraska and Minnesota and I picked them up from the Atlanta airport. Then we drove to Savannah together. OMG, by the time we arrived, it felt like we had all been friends forever! They are such authentic and down to earth people. We laughed an talked the whole way down!

The place we stayed in was absolutely beautiful!!!

They all surprised me with gifts on my Birthday!

Every morning we'd sit on the front veranda overlooking the park or on the cozy back porch with our coffee, smoothies, and english muffins, and plan our day!

We ate at several different restaurants including the hip B&D Burgers, Rocks on the Roof (atop the Bohemian Hotel overlooking the river), and The Old Pink House (wonderful ambiance, food, and fantastic piano player). We attempted to go to Savannah Smiles (the dueling piano bar), but it was closed Sunday night. We'll have to save that for our next Savannah trip. There is so much to see and do there; it won't all fit in one trip. We went to City Market where we shopped, ate some delicious pizza, and listened to an amazing band called "Individually Twisted" that was playing in the streets. They were honestly one of the best bands I've ever heard (other than my own kids bands, of course)! We took a Haunted Ghost Tour. It was fun riding around beautiful Savannah in a convertible hearst at night and seeing all the sights; unfortunately, our driver/guide, Captain Kirk, was kind of lame... very long winded, overly theatrical, and kept forgetting his lines and starting over.

This is the house we stayed in facing the park. We would climb out my bedroom window upstairs and sit on the front Veranda with our coffee and smoothies in the mornings.
