Our Asian Adoption Group celebrated the Autumn Moon Festival at Memorial Park on Sunday!

Cathie signing back and forth with Leah Jean! Cathie's son is also deaf! I was able to sign with both of them as well. They instantly connected with us when they saw we spoke their language. It's so powerful to enter someone's world, especially when they are in the minority of the particular group...

Melissa has 5 children, 2 bio and 3 adoptive (2 of whom are deaf). Her house burned down last week, she and her husband are going through a separation, and yes, she's still standing... Strong woman!!!

So cool...

Today my match got rained out, so I was able to get caught up around the house. Later, I was on my way to the bank and to return some library books and saw a girl walking under the bypass. I could see from her body language that she was distraught and in a hurry. I didn't know if she was running away from something/someone or just in a big hurry to get somewhere. Something told me to turn around and help her. I turned around and rolled down my window and hollered, "Do you need help?" She looked at me and I said, "Merideth???" She almost started crying and said, "Michele, OMG, Yes!!!" She hopped in my car and told me about her morning, the least of which her car wouldn't start and she had to be at Gainesville College for a test. She said she was praying that someone she knew would see her and give her a ride! Wow, it was faith building for both of us. This precious girl has not had an easy life. She is trying to pull it all together. I'm so thankful that God made himself a little more visible to her (and me) today.

TIMBER... The boys cut down 6 huge pine trees for us in our back yard!

These pine trees were sooooo tall!!! Every time we had a storm, we were afraid one would fall on our house. We used to have a nice sodded back yard, but the roots from these giant trees destroyed our back yard. Drew dug up several roots for us last week, oh yeah, and chopped our cable wire, lol! (Alex isn't in these pictures because thses were taken the day after when they began chopping up the trees they had dropped the day before and Alex was out of town.) It will take them a while to get all these trees chopped up into firewood. I told them they could chop them up into firewood and make even more money! This is the perfect time of year to sell firewood! Wish I had thought to get pictures when they were chopping down the trees the day before. They were so funny with their goggles and the girls pink bike helmets on their heads. They used a zip line to pull the trees the way they wanted them to fall. Lumberjack Tyler said he used to cut trees down on the golf course when he worked there, and knew what he was doing. (although there are no houses around to worry about falling on!) They did great on 5 trees, but the 6th one was tricky... it was leaning toward the house. It didn't fall where they wanted it, but at least it didn't fall on our house, Marylou's house, or Marylou's beautiful garden with a cedar fence around it! Whew!!!

8th graders honored at end of year softball game!

So proud of my girl! She pours everything she has into every practice and every game!!! To me, that demonstrates the amazing character she has! What stands out about her among her teammates and coaches is her positive attitude and whole-heartedness!!!

Lunch at Brett's after tennis match... also celebrating 2 ladies' Birthday's!

Tis the season... UGA party in the hood!!!

There's a group of neighbors that take turns hosting UGA home game parties at their house every fall... Last night was UGA vs. South Carolina!

Natalie's son, Will, reading his bible:)

The tender, teachable, and hungry heart of a child... just precious!

A meal to die for...

Drew and Hayley have been cooking dinner for us every night this week... This was my favorite! We put pasta in a bowl with some sauce on it and sprinkled brussle sprouts over that, then added chicken with mushrooms and onions. It was the juiciest chicken I ever tasted. They bought some kind of seasoned chicken at trader joe's and added olive oil, chopped onions and mushrooms and baked it. Oh my gosh, I was so full, but couldn't stop myself from eating a second helping!

Digs and Emma snoozing...

Emma, the limber, limbo lady. She came in 3rd in the school limbo contest!

Labor Day with the Quilters

Ellie's 8th grade softball team!

Poor Ellie was sick the day the team won their first game and went out for ice-cream to celebrate!
Thankfully, the game they played last night she was able to play in and they won again! (but no ice-cream that time...)

My goodness, she looks so grown up!
